Padding for Your Oriental Rugs

Many people overlook padding when purchasing a rug. Pads have a very specific job to do. A pad buffers noise and it elevates the rug to make the pile surface look deeper and more even, especially with uneven wooden floors. It also keeps dirt from rubbing on the foundation of the rug.

The preferred pad is a densely compacted rubber or synthetic cushion sold by rug dealers. These pads are mildew resistant and prevent the rug from slipping, which can be very dangerous. Often a pad is "thrown in" with your purchase, but these are usually not the quality that you want. Caravan Connection of Newport carries quality padding that can be cut to your desired size.
