Making the Purchase

When you are in the market for an Oriental rug, here are a few "words of wisdom."

Go to a business that specializes in Oriental rugs. Be wary of "Going Out of Business" sales, and hotel auctions passing through town. Often the prices are inflated and then marked down.

Oriental rug prices are set by the producer and seller on the basis of cost of materials, labor and overhead. If the price seems too good to true, it probably is. Also, auctions often sell damaged rugs that are not immediately seen by the average rug buyer.

Don't buy a rug just because you like it. Know where you plan on using it and work the room around the rug.

Be sure to call or e-mail Caravan Connection of Newport if you have any questions about your Oriental rug or if you are thinking about buying one.
